NEWS

We are going to start featuring some older, less-known books, and including some different content as well, including author and narrator interviews, maybe an artist or two, and possibly some excerpts and stories from Crossroad Press authors (We will link to those, not send them in email).

We have shifted websites and newsletter formats so often that our list is horrifyingly small for a press of our size, and we’re also aiming to improve on that.

Let’s get to the books!

SPOTLIGHT

Brian Pinkerton – AMAZON AUTHOR PAGEUNIVERSAL BOOK LINKAUDIBLE

Publisher’s note: Brian has the distinction of being the first Crossroad Press author to hit the USA TODAY bestseller list with his novel Abducted, which was a re-release that did not hit that bestseller list in it’s original release. It now has over 2k positive reviews on Amazon. A unicorn! His novel Time Warp, that is performed in audio by Joshua Saxon, is a book that deserves a much larger audience. It’s very different – a book where you are never quite sure if you are in a new reality or just lost in one man’s madness. Audio Sample

COMPLETE SERIES RELEASES

Amazon Link / Audible Link (This was in Kindle Unlimited for a while, being redistributed widely)

An experiment that we intend to continue is our original series of novellas and novels in the world of the O.C.L.T. (Orphic Crisis Logistical Taskforce). When things threaten citizens, cities, even countries that are beyond the scope of traditional security and military forces, these are the people you call. Led by Ex-DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) agent Reed Christopher Hayes (R.C.) these agents include a brilliant theoretical physicist, an adventurer, folklore expert who may, or may not be very, very old, a sorceress, a next-level computer expert, a linguistic genius and a very finicky Japanese Archaeologist.

The first novella, Brought to Light, written by Aaron Rosenberg, pits RC and his military intelligence team against a supernatural creature straight out of Swedish folklore. The second, The Temple of Camazotz, written by David Niall Wilson, features Geoffrey Bullfinch, folklorist, dabbler in the occult, and Wendell "Mack" Macklemore, computer genius and extreme sports enthusiast pitted against a drug cartel, and an ancient bat-like god. Both novellas are only .99 at Amazon.

These set the stage for the actual creation of the O.C.L.T. which happened at the end of the first full length novel, The Parting, by David Niall Wilson. In this one Rebecca York and “Mack” Macklemore join forces with a renegade Vatican monk, a street urchin, and others to oppose the reincarnated danger of an ancient Egyptian goddess, and the staff of Moses himself.

The series  continues through: Incursion, Digging Deep and Focal Point by Aaron Rosenberg and branches out to cross over with the Cletus J. Diggs mysteries in David Niall Wilson’s Crockatiel, and with the ancestors of the characters from The Order of the Air, the amazing series by Melissa Scott and Jo Graham.

There are plans to continue this series – which also includes guest novels by Kurt Criscione with No Laughing Matter, and Sidney Williams with Disciples of the Serpent.

FREE AUDIOBOOK DOWNLOAD CODES FOR AUDIBLE

Here is our new list of books we are offering free download codes for.  We are trying to build reviews, and while we don’t require a review for a free download, even just a rating on Audible or Amazon can make a huge difference in visibility. Beneath the new books are those from last week, because all still have some codes available for US and UK listeners. We will offer them to the first five who request them, and only one title per requester. To request a code, send a note to [email protected]

THIS WEEK’S TITLES

Ulster Lament by M. J. Neary – Performed by Michael Langan – AUDIO SAMPLE

Ulster, Co. Antrim, 1903 - Born with a limp, unsuitable for military service, Peter Greenwood knows that he is an embarrassment to his father, an officer in the British army. At 17, the youth travels to Belfast to study journalism. New friends help Peter find a job at a conservative newspaper, The Empire. His first assignment is to publish the memoirs of a retired captain, Evan Pryce, a veteran of the Transvaal campaign. At the very first meeting Peter recognizes a broken, bitter man who is not proud of his past. Molly, the captain's feral and uncouth daughter, takes a liking to Peter and shares a few family secrets that do not quite tie with the patriotic spirit of the newspaper.

The Pryce family has a sworn enemy, an Irish nationalist hungry for vengeance, to which Peter becomes a witness. Even though his own life is spared, it now belongs to the rebels. He must use his literary skills to cover up their crimes. "Ulster Lament", a bewitching folk melody sung by the ringleader, infects Peter's thoughts and makes him question his loyalty to the crown. He starts sympathizing with the rebels and believing that their rage is justified. Will he turn against everything he was taught to hold sacred?

His miraculous recovery in late 2020 was just the most recent of his numerous underwater life-and-death experiences. Breathe is Rick Bettua’s survival/adventure story. It’s also a story about perseverance against great odds, and his impressive skills to solve problems—and even save lives—under extreme conditions. It begins and ends with the shark attack and his recovery that defied the odds.
