BRUISED – by Justin Holley – Due 1 January, 2026

Jason Hylden thinks life is perfect, but at age fifteen things are about to change.

First he falls for Jewel, a pretty redhead with arms marred by mysterious bruises. Then the gang of friends he runs with begins to experiment with witchcraft, blood oaths and revenge.

Soon, Jewel is the only good thing standing between Jason and the gang, but when he finds out she's one of his mother's mental health clients, he worries doctor-patient confidentiality will forever mask the truth behind Jewel's bruises. Is someone out to destroy her, or is she destroying herself? In the end, the truth behind her secrets is beyond his worst imaginings and, as their two worlds draw closer to collision, all hell—quite literally—is about to break loose.

FEATURED AUDIO

White Crows and Silent Thunderby T. J. MacGregor featuring Mira Morales – performed by Cathi Colas.

White Crows –Book 1: For psychic Mira Morales, it begins when a crazed woman accosts a jogger and demands to know where she can find Mira. In a confrontation, the lunatic is killed by the jogger and turns to stone before she hits the ground.

Mira reads the body and makes a startling discovery. The stone woman is from 2144, where the descendants of climate change survivors—Normals and White Crows—live in a giant dome. Crows represent nature’s rapid evolutionary leap to save humanity by endowing people with extraordinary abilities. Normals outnumber Crows, who keep them enslaved. Now the dome is collapsing, and the Crows’ only hope for the future lies in returning to the past. Hundreds of them are on their way to Mira’s time.

The invasion has begun. – AUDIO SAMPLE

Silent Thunder – Book 2: As a climate catastrophe swallows south Florida and the Keys, psychic Mira Morales watches the obliteration of her past on live TV. She is losing her former bookstore and home where she lived for decades. Tango Key itself disappears as she witnesses the catastrophe in stunned disbelief. But when she’s recruited by the FBI to go undercover at a government-controlled animal rescue facility, she’s drawn into an even darker storm.

She discovers the facility actually weaponizes animals. Dogs, cats, even wild animals are enhanced in ways that defy science. Their intelligence has been heightened and they can communicate—through Scrabble tiles. What begins as an investigation becomes a mission of survival for Mira, her family, her community and the extraordinary animals she helps to escape the facility.

Political corruption deepens and government surveillance closes in. When violence escalates, Mira must decide how much she’s willing to risk. Will exposing the truth cost her the lives of her husband and daughter? Can she save these animals she has grown to love? – AUDIO SAMPLE

FREE AUDIOBOOK DOWNLOAD CODES FOR AUDIBLE

Here is our new list of books we are offering free download codes for.  We are trying to build reviews, and while we don’t require a review for a free download, even just a rating on Audible or Amazon can make a huge difference in visibility. Beneath the new books are those from last week, because all still have some codes available for US and UK listeners. We will offer them to the first five who request them, and only one title per requester. To request a code send a note to [email protected]

THIS WEEK’S TITLES:

The House at Black Tooth Pond by Stephen Mark Rainey – Performed by Joshua Saxon – AUDIO SAMPLE

AIKEN MILL, VIRGINIA… A legend-haunted town in Sylvan County, located in a remote, mountainous corner of the state. With its long history of countless deaths and disappearances, Aiken Mill has become known to law enforcement as “The Cold Case Capital of the World.”

Now, an unidentified, mutilated body has turned up in the town. During his investigation, Sheriff Bryce Parrott discovers frightening clues that lead him to believe some ghostly force—or entity—may be responsible for the killing.

While exploring the darkest corners of Sylvan County, psychology professor Martin Pritchett and his brother, Phillip, happen upon a crumbling, century-old house beside a body of water called Black Tooth Pond. A strange compulsion leads both men back to the house time and time again, but neither can remember any of the events that occur there.

As both Sheriff Parrott and the Pritchett brothers attempt to solve their respective mysteries, their paths begin to converge—paths that lead inexorably to the ancient, foreboding house at Black Tooth Pond.

The Soft Whisper of the Dead (Universal Monsters Series Book 1) by Charles L. Grant – Performed by Samuel E. Hoke – AUDIO SAMPLE

Multiple award winner Charles L. Grant has written a vampire novel set in the author's distressing little town of Oxrun Station. It is a region to be found on the same maps as Lovecraft's Arkham and King's Castle Rock.

The Soft Whisper of the Dead is the first of the Oxrun tales to be placed in other than a contemporary setting. The first in a trilogy of historical horror novels, it is the account of the evil Count Braslov's attempt to subjugate the Oxrun population to his vampiric will.

This first novel of a fast-paced trilogy is fraught with gas-light atmosphere, plucky women, a befuddled constabulary and is filled with the excitement of the classic vampire tale. Great fun!

Witch IslandDavid Bernstein – Performed by Joan Dukore – AUDIO SAMPLE

A witch's curse from beyond the grave!

Witch Island used to be feared. Even the bravest would not dare go there. Legend said a witch had been burned alive at the stake, and upon her death she cursed the town. Terrified residents performed rituals to keep her spirit trapped on the island where she was buried.

Now, over a hundred years later, a group of high school seniors have decided to forgo the local graduation parties and have a small gathering of their own–on Witch Island. They don't fear the legends. They scoff at them. But the group will soon learn these particular legends are nothing to scoff at. And Witch Island will prove far worse than they could have ever imagined.
